“I’m not built for outdoor activity, so I spent most of my time immersed in video games. These 8-bit marvels not only taught me problem solving and improved my hand-eye coordination skills, but taught me everything I know about ‘theming’ and ‘conveyance’ which are present in the photos I shoot to this day. Video games were my childhood.”
While our Photoboxers are working on their photos, let’s take some time to look at some of their previous work.
This is the work of photoboxer Cheyne Gallarde. His previous work ranged from his signature retro and vintage to dramatic self portraits. His work is high in concept, so how will he interpret this week’s challenge of “The World Around Us”?
Our first Photoboxer is a 5’8” self-described photo nerd from Hawaii. He started shooting photography professionally 5 years ago and has since developed a niche he calls “antique chic”. His style is part time travel, part fashion.
His work is vibrant and high in concept, but does he have what it takes to take on more grittier challenges. His weakness is photography using natural light, so can he handle shooting out in nature with nothing but the sun as his lightsource?
We shall see when he competes in the first Photoboxing match, taking place soon!
